Delete branch "%!s()"
Deleting a branch is permanent. Although the deleted branch may continue to exist for a short time before it actually gets removed, it CANNOT be undone in most cases. Continue?
To be able to test and demo, hardware devices that can run the software-clients are needed.
Ideas are welcome!
The central OS2 secretariat has donated a potential device.
It a MacBook Pro, but sadly it only boots to the "network restore" state. @debjazkb297 has kindly offered to try and restore so it boots to a workable linux (or alternatively a version of MacOS), but work needs to be done to evaulate if its possible.
@debjazkb297: MAybe it could be restored using another working Mac via DFU? ➡️ https://support.apple.com/en-us/108900
not sure that would help us, because its bricked to an other user
Continuing the official way. @debjazkb297 is contacting Apple with the official proof of purchase.
Activation Lock: defeated. 🛡️ After several emails with Apple Support and a small paperwork marathon, the device is unlocked. Feels good to win one against bureaucracy!
Looking forward to a running machine ... maybe even multibooting to OpenSuse linux! ;-)
Update: The laptop is now running MacOs. Driver issues, USB-C boot compatibility and time constraints has stopped the experiment.
A cheap, fast way to have a portable client with a screen (so it can be demoed) would be a small laptop around 2000 dkk.. E.g. like the CHUWI MiniBook X costing around 2200 dkk on Amazon.
@ChatBotBerg: Any budget for a demo device or two to be able to travel and show the features of the next management platform that could evolve into the "v3" replacement solution?
I have surplus Intel NUCs, RPI 4 and RPI 5.
I am also sure I can get hold of some Lenovo PCs if needed.
As a stopgap solution, I have migrated my daily work PC to bootc.
I have an old laptop we can use. Emphasis on old :D Also, my company could potentially buy a few used/cheap computers and lend them 🤔
Question is: What kind of hardware does the user use? We should test on the same similar, hardware, right?
@oyvindsk: For the first phase, a simple demo.. any x86 hardware that are in the same location as the participants in the demo would suffice... @ChatBotBerg is planning a demo at the date of our general assembly the 18. May this year.. @ChatBotBerg please confirm, that this is the plan...
